The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
Seems unrelated to RPG; probably better addressed on Midrange-L.
Anyhow... First, be sure the job CCSID is set appropriately, to
any value other than either *HEX or 65535; see WRKJOB OPTION(*DFNA).
FWiW: If the supported characters for the columns\fields can be
represented in an EBCDIC CCSID, then a logical file can map\cast the
data in the VarGraphic or Graphic data type field to an Alpha or
Open data type field, which should be capable of being presented in
the Data File Utility functions, even if DFU has limited support for
the Graphic data types. Limited I presume, since I do not recall
ever having been able to use UPDDTA [temporary DFU program] to view
or change data in a column that used the Graphic data type to store
ASCII, UCS2, or UTF data; I always just assumed that the display
file for either a custom or temporary DFU program would function
well on a terminal [emulator] which had support for the G data type
fields as defined in the DDS for the DSPF file type\attribute.
FWiW the [database] TABLE editor in iNav should enable viewing
and updating such a column. I used that feature in OpsNav and
Query/400 to view\verify data in such columns; the latter casts the
data to the CCSID of the job and presents the data in an Open data
type field, so I could compare data loss against a Unicode interface.

Any if you tried creating a DFU for maintaining a file
having G type fields ???
When I tried that I get all 'junk' displayed as data on
screen as pasted below.
