You're right on the money regarding the paycheck. Given how hard it is for
many to find work on this product line right now, many are letting skill
sets erode for cash flow.
That's just the way it is.

I agree. And it's good to have doubts. But sometimes it is the difference
between having a paycheck and its alternative. This is not my idea; it's
real world. A little education may go a long way but in the end you do what
the boss demands or you find another source of funds.
And, by the way, a little understanding won't hurt.
