David,

Your question lead me to believe you were going to change an RPG III
program. As soon as you have to touch an RPG III program, you should
convert if first. If you are just trying to understand the program, read
the manual (<
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r4/topic/books/c0918170.pdf
; better download the pdf as well; V6R1 InfoCenter does not have it
anymore).

Can't convert Joep. The program runs OK, though. I think that
putting the indicator on the OPEN command stops it from crashing but
I was wondering if there was something I was missing.

Hi all,

How do I write the equivalent of

/FREE

IF NOT %OPEN(MYFILE);
%OPEN(MYFILE);

ENDIF;

/END-FREE

for RPGIII ?

At the moment, I have
C OPEN MYFILE 10
C KEY CHAINMYFILE 10

Thanks
