Specifying USROPN for your files and then doing a check to
see if the file is open already using the following code can
save you a ton of processing time. Opening and closing files
all the time can be very expensive especially for
modules/procedures that are very detailed and called a lot.

That is used quite a lot, though rarely are the files manually closed again.


I use some code from Scott in my module source that checks
for open files when the activation group is destroyed and the
service program's storage is reclaimed.

I remember that one, it was in an article on MVC I believe. But activation groups are rarely used here. At the moment.
