I see it's been worth my time to review Scott Klement's website,
particularly the section titled Fun with RPG Pointers - specifically the
statement "Allow you to circumvent the limit of 32k that can be stored in
a single character string in RPG ." (which is now a 64k limit IIRC).

I've never been much of a pointer user but I think I see now the advantage
of allowing memory to be manipulated via pointers when there are
requirements beyond RPG's traditional boundaries.

Now I need to try to put it into the context of what I've been trying to
achieve.

In other words, yes the roller coaster can only hold so many people per
ride. And nor do the gates to the amusement park ever close, thus we can't
control the number of patrons who want to go for a ride.

Regards, Jerry
