Perhaps, %EOF without a parameter will return the status of the EOF
for the last file accessed. As long as there are no other file I/Os
between the reads done in the SELECT and the %EOF test, it should work
as you expect.

At least till someone comes along and adds a file I/O!

Peter's got a good idea. Another idea would be to encapsulate the
SELECT-EOF logic in it's own procedure.
