The compiler tells me that fLCAP1 through fLCAP8, fdcap1 through
fdcap8,
and facap1 through facap8 are undefined. Undefined? Why isn't LCAP1
through LCAP8 undefined? Or one of the other half dozen sets of
datastructure fields? I'm at a loss here, and this is driving me
crazy.

Apparently the other half dozen sets of fields are fields externally defined
in some database/display/printer file(s). This is (apparently) not the case
for your new fields.

By the way, if I put a 7s 2 definition on the datastructure fields it
compiles and works fine. It just bothers me that things don't seem
consistent...

Seems consistent to me, given the above. By the way, for additional
consistency and easier future maintenance, I would lose the 7,2 definitions
and use LIKE(LCAP1) (for example) instead. You'll be glad you did later
when all this stuff switches to 9,2 definitions.
