isprint() and isgraph() are implemented as macros (or inlined functions if __cplusplus_nomacro__ is defined) in ILE C. Therefore, you won't be able to call them directly from RPG.

You could, of course, write a subprocedure that does the same thing as the macro...

I am trying to implement a test for valid (printable, in this case)
characters in RPG. If I were doing this in C, it would be simple:

If (isprint(c)) { do_stuff(c) ; }

Similar things can be done with isgraph().

Nearest I can remember, the prototype for isprint in C is:

int isprint(int c)

Now to define this in RPG, I would have expected to do: (Columns not aligned
properly)

D isprint PR 10I 0 EXTPROC('isprint')

D c 10I 0 Value

I tried with an indicator as output, with a character as input, and various
permutations of similar combinations, and have not landed on an RPG solution
that seems to work like I expect. Do any of you know the correct
translation of these functions for definition within RPG?

Why is the alphabet in that order? Is it because of that song?
