I responded to Scott that we long for V6R1 from V5R4.
He mentioned that missing elements were counted but they need to be
cleared if not populated.

Apart from that, what the compiler does with an XML-INTO operation is
simply divine.
So for the moment I shall tolerate the overhead of having the handler
fire for every iteration of a multi-occurrence element.
Peter - you don't mention what release you are on but if it is 6.1
there is relief for issues such as this in the form of a PTF and some
new keywords.
