It certainly lends itself to the non-i oriented change control products.

The thing about change control on the i is that it's not _just_ about managing the source code ... good change control manage object creation, data retention, archiving production objects, etc, also. All the major i oriented SCM products do this well. The open source SCM offerings do not know anything about the i.

Of course most of the i oriented source analysis tools are going to manage source in the traditional source physical file format ... so putting source code on the IFS is probably going to negate use of those tools.
