Thanks for everyone's help I just created my tables via iseries navigator
for the first time.
DEFINITELY best way to go.
I guess there is no way to get the data definitions when you map your data
base. That is the way VB.NET does it in the data sets. The map data base
function seems to only create an icon with the table name in it.

if you use FROG (or my GENDDL command) it will save the output to a source
member (so you don't have tooooooooooooo!) (blatantly stolen from the
"scrubbing bubbles" commercials)
Thanks,

By the way, you can also use the "Generate SQL" option in System i
Navigator to create DDL for a table/file that was originally created with
DDS. That is, the tables do not have to have been created using SQL's DDL
in the first place. It even works against "flat" files ported from a 34
or 36, though there's not much to look at / use in that case.

mucho gracias senor !!!!
This tool is great for me. Because you know what you want with DDS, but
not
sure how that translates into SQL.
I was curious how this tool would treat the key information. I had
multiple
keys to the file, but I see no DDL created.
I changed it to only 1 key, thinking a PRIMARY KEY would be added to the
DDL
but no.

Always use Operations Navigator ...
You never want to code this stuff by hand. Way too much work.
This seems to be an appropriate place to recommend Tommy Holden's GENDDL
command:
http://www.tommyholden.com/
See the Downloads link.
Use DDS & CRTPF to create tables. Use GENDDL to generate SQL DDL. Then
RUNSQLSTM to re-create tables.
Some of us think Operations Navigator is too much work.
Nathan.
