Sure...

Many ways to go about it. One approach (that involves RPG) might be:

1> create your new file, which replaces the date and time fields with a
single timestamp field.
2> write an rpg program to read from the original file, then

eval myTimeStamp = oldDate + oldTime;

before you write the new record format....
