I've never tried it with a compiler, but in a prior life, I used to
override the message file (ovrmsgf I think) to one that I built. It had
empty messages in it that matched the ones I wanted to have ignored. As
I recall, ovrmsgf works differently than ovrdbf. If no matching message
is found in the overridden-to file, the message is retrieved from the
original file. Anyway, in regular jobs, messages that were empty, never
made it to the job log. That was very handy. It simplified cleanup a lot.
