A call to QMHRCVPM immediately after the file OPEN (if USROPN is specified) does the trick. If the file is not USROPN, I'd guess a call in your initialization processing would work...

mode, with deliberately oversized buffers, in order to sidestep level
check issues with files whose exact size and record layout is not known
at compile time.

Works great, except that we tend to get a lot of level-10 CPF4011
warning messages in joblogs.

Is there a way to suppress those entirely?
