RE: Rename file field in RPGLE

The only "alternate" is the I=specs method that was given previously.

What is the problem with renaming all of the fields? Besides, that is, having to change the program to use these new variants?

Use PREFIX keyword

FFILE1 IF E K DISK
F PREFIX(F1)

You can replace n number of characters of your field by using PREFIX(F1:2) this
mean fist 2 characters of the field names will be replaced by F1
