I *think* you do this, if memory serves:

A R MAINFTR A*%%TS SD 20081229 160242 SPISDXP REL-V5R4M0 5722-WDS A OVERLAY A WINDOW(MAINCTL)



Note the WINDOW(MAINCTL). This way, it shares the window with MAINCTL rather than creating a whole new window that overlays the other one!
