when you code
IF Control ()
AND Extract ()
AND Calculate ()

Extract() won't occur if Control() returns *off, that's why I wrote
about obfuscation

On my V5R4 machine, it appears that Cor's code works the same as Nicolas'. In http://code.midrange.com/a171b1103b.html, sub2 is never executed.

Indeed, it would be terribly confusing if the _exact_same_expression_ evaluated differently simply because it was part of an IF statement rather than an EVAL statement.
