Well, assuming that your date is in YYMMDD.00 format, I'd do something like this (untested) RPG:

ts1 = %date(dateFld1 : *YMD0) + %time(timeFld1 : *HMS0);
ts2 = %date(dateFld2 : *YMD0) + %time(timeFld2 : *HMS0);
duration = %diff(ts2 : ts1 : *SECONDS);

With the usual caveats about dates < 1940-01-01 and > 2039-12-31.
