So long as the modules are ILE, the QBNLPGMI should work.
I tried it here this morning and was able to see the SQL count.

Ensure you are reading all entries in the user space (one per module)
(in my test here I had 3 modules, but only one had SQL, and it wasn't the
first retrieved)

Ensure you are looking at a module that contains SQL:
D QBNBMN 21 30
D* Bound Module Name

Ensure you have the correct positions for the number of SQL statements:

D QBNNSQLI 325 328B 0
D* Number SQL Inst

Yes Most are ILE, and some have multiple modules. The dsppgm does show the
correct information.

Is the program an ILE program?
Does it have multiple modules? (maybe the first returned isn't the module
you're interested in)
If you use DSPPGM PGM(pgmName) DETAIL(*MODULE), then option 5 next to the
module and page down, does it show the correct information there?

Thanks, I am using that API already in my process, and the number of sql
statments field is always returning 0 for me.

Maybe make use of the "List ILE Program Information (QBNLPGMI)" API,
PGML0100
Format, to see the "Number of SQL statements"

Obviously I'm no expert, but I looked at one of mine. Neither the
object
attribute, which is RPGLE, nor DSPPGM nor DSPOBJD revealed anything
that
even hinted at SQL. But those were the only commands I tried, and
didn't
look at any API's.

Does anyone know how to tell by only looking at the object if a program
contains embedded SQL?

I looked through the API's but didn't see much, I hope I am just
missing
the obvious.
