When an RPG program (or module) containing embedded SQL is compiled it is
first passed through a pre-compiler which converts the SQL into calls to the
various SQL API's.

The "new" source is written to a source file in QTEMP, so if you do a DSPPGM
or DSPMOD on the program or module and see that the source file is in QTEMP
then there's a reasonable bet that it contains embedded SQL.

The alternative is to look at the programs references and see if any calls
are made to the SQL API's - not sure on their names off the top of my head.
There is a utility at www.astradyne-uk.com/download.htm that can generate a
cross reference file of all program and file references in a library.

All the best

Jonathan

Subject: Does a program contain embedded SQL?

Does anyone know how to tell by only looking at the object if a program
contains embedded SQL?

I looked through the API's but didn't see much, I hope I am just missing the
obvious.

Chris
