Thanks this sounds like a plan. Time constraints mean this option will
have to wait unfortunately but I like it. In the meantime think I'll go
with option of setting up the hex values for CTRL + Funct keys and
monitoring for these, unless I get some better advice.

Anybody know the hex mapping's for CTRL F1 -> F12 say ?

If you group the program calls by function you might show the end-user a
window from which he can choose a program by radio buttons. This is
nicely scalable as well, because even when you would be able to use the
control alt and shift keys with the function keys you would eventually
run out of keys.

Folks bit of a basic question compared to some of the current
discussions but I have a situation that I'd lie some advice on.

I have a program that I need to modify to allow calls to some additional
programs via function keys. Problem is there is not enough remaining
unused function keys available. That is F1 -> F24 are all in use, is
there any way in which to extend the range. ?
