Hi Mark,

The last method called that works is createCell, which generates
object 2,096,624. The call to setCellType on that cell then throws
the error. It's almost as if that cell wasn't created because it ran
out of handles.

Is it possible that you're forgetting to free up your local references? Thus creating lots of Java objects that can't be freed up by the JVM?

Just a thought.
