The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
This is an excellent technique for a number of reasons:
1 - If you want to put extra error handling in the subprocedure (record
locked, if IBM ever allows a before read trigger, etc) then that "clutter"
is out of your main loop.
2 - If you want to do extra processing on your read, like decrypt
encrypted data, then that "clutter" is out of your main loop.
3 - If someone wants to add the ITER opcode in the middle of the loop then
they don't have to be concerned with whether the READ will be executed.
