There is a way to run a *PGM in another job, but the referenced RUNJOBCMD isn't it. That approach stopped working as of V5R4. See the first example in my presentation What's New in System APIs at http://www.brucevining.com/Presentations/PPT_Presentations/Whats_new_in_system_APIs.pdf for a sample program which can be used to run any command (well that you're authorize to, etc) in another job.

if the programs run in different jobs there's no way to communicate via
LDA. each job has it's own LDA.

Stuck on accessing the LDA -- manuals no help so far

Can somebody point me in the direction of an example of two ILE RPG
programs, neither of which calls the other, communicating with each
other via the Local Data Area?

Preferably without doing an IN on all *DTAARAs known to the program?

When I RTFM on this one, all it does is make me go cross-eyed.
