Bar code readers(*) do it by simply by appending the control code for enter to the data stream.
*At least those that are attached via an actual or emulated keyboard wedge. When the data hits the
hardware, it looks just like the data was typed in and enter pressed.
Not sure what you are trying to do, how is the data getting into the field?
