On a related note, while it seems intuitive that the WAITRCD parameter
would be the wait for a record lock, the helptext for the WAITFILE and
WAITRCD parameters of CRTPF kind of sheds mud on the difference between
the two parameters, rather than light. Can anybody shed some light and
clear away the mud?

Short version: The program will ...
(*) wait WAITFILE() seconds before giving up on OPEN
(*) wait WAITRCD() seconds before giving up on READ, CHAIN, or similar.
