CHGPF Maximum record wait time . . . . WAITRCD

The WAITRCD part of the file definition controls how long to wait for a
locked record. It's in seconds I think.
CHGPF can do it for you, or the file can be created with the value you
want.

Subject: Quick detection of locked records

I've already determined that %ERROR = true and %STATUS(filename) = 1218
will tell me that the record I'm attempting to CHAIN to is locked.

But is there a way to shorten the wait?
