My point with all of this is you cant provide LINQ like functionality in a
language without a GC memory model ( and of course classes, delegates,
anonymous types, ... )

But I think you are missing the higher-level point given the fact that RPG
has been performant on what many would consider sub par hardware for decades
WITHOUT the need for Microsoft's/Sun's version of a GC.

Let me state/ask it more directly: Do you think it could be possible that a
GC as your prescribing might NOT be necessary based on the fundamental
integrated infrastructure RPG has in combination with OS/400 and DB2?

I don't doubt that LINQ and other things are making their way to this point,
but it is important to note that IBM has been at this point for quite some
time and has already been able to hone it to reach optimal efficiency
levels. Am I way off here anybody?
