I understand. I got my copy from Jon for winning a contest at one of his sessions at COMMON. I think it was for asking the most inane question during the session, or something like that. .-)

I want a hard-copy. I hate reading off the computer screen and there is
something about holding a dead-tree version.

I understand and I thank you guys for the time you put into the first one.
I
was going to wait to buy a hard copy until the new version came out... I
think I might as well just buy it.

Actually there are two new RedPages pieces for the Redbook that have been
issued in the last six months or so. It was decided that a full update
was
not practical.

Please understand that writing Redbooks is even more a labor of love than
writing magazine articles or whatever. You get paid for magazine work
and
as
long as you don't calculate your hourly rate it is at least something.

IBM pay nothing (nada, ziltch, rien) for Redbooks. Some are lucky enough
to
be paid by their employer while they work on it. In our case all of us
run
our own companies. So taking time out to write a Redbook is a new loss -
a
significant one.

We tried to update the book (you can follow the story line here -
http://systemideveloper.com/redbookdiary.html - although it is a little
out of
date) but so far have only manage the two new pieces. We might manage
one
more - but don't hold your breath - it is just too time consuming.

Here's the links for the new bits on APIs and error handling:
