So given that statement, I wonder if we should pursue a Redbook Wiki for
the
guide, similar to what IBM is doing in other areas?
Here is reference to a Lotus wiki:
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/tips0676.html
And here is the actual wiki:
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/wikis/display/dominoappdev/Home
In reality the political ground work has already been laid which is one
less
battle to fight. Though I am sure the RPG knowledge space will most likely
need to be brought up to a completely different set of people in IBM, which
may mean fighting the same battle from scratch.
I really think that in the end this is the direction IBM *needs* to go with
documentation. It has proven to be successful. We have the community to
support it.
Thoughts?

Please understand that writing Redbooks is even more a labor of love than
writing magazine articles or whatever. You get paid for magazine work
asrun
long as you don't calculate your hourly rate it is at least something.
IBM pay nothing (nada, ziltch, rien) for Redbooks. Some are lucky enough
to
be paid by their employer while they work on it. In our case all of us
our own companies. So taking time out to write a Redbook is a new loss -a
significant one.one
We tried to update the book (you can follow the story line here -
http://systemideveloper.com/redbookdiary.html - although it is a little
out of
date) but so far have only manage the two new pieces. We might manage
more - but don't hold your breath - it is just too time consuming.list
Here's the links for the new bits on APIs and error handling:
