I prefer *INKx to a numbered indicator. e.g. I prefer *INKC to *IN03. I just think it's more obviously that KC means F3, whereas *IN03 could mean anything. If these were the only choices, I'd use *INKx.

However, I think INDDS() is even better.

But, honestly, I don't write new 5250 green screen programs anymore. I write web applications! So if I'm working with a 5250 app, I'm changing an existing program. In that case, I tend to stick with the same style that the program was already written in.
