You can specify what character you want trimmed -- a second parameter. Nest a couple %trims to get them both.Two trims will work provided the trailing characters are consistent (either all blanks or all nulls). If the last four characters were blank/null/blank/null, even nested trims wouldn't work. If you might have that situation, take Rick's advice to do translate nulls to blanks and then trim blanks.
