Lim et all -
For those who claim to either *never* use the cycle or rarely use it, I have the following question:
Do you *always* explicitly open and close all the files used in your programs/procedures?
If not, you *are* using the cycle.
The cycle implicitly opens all files except those coded as usropn, and closes all open files when *INLR is on and program ends.
Thanks,

Haven't use cycle programming for past 12 years. So far so good also.
Robert: Not sure how familiar you are with RPG. There is a group that
favor cycle programming and there is also a group that does not like
cycle programming at all. So.... Before you invest to much no cycle
programming, you might want to do research as if that is what your shop
wanted.

Well...so far so good for the last 26 years. Guess I'll keep using it.

Anybody who would give that answer to "What is The Cycle good for?"
would be better off using another language.
