Asking a programmer to build a subfile program by hand is like asking a
bricklayer to explain the process of makeing a brick...
Why should he care, if he know how to use it... Like 95% of RPG
programmer wouldn't be able to do it. Does that make them bad programmers?

am i the ONLY one who still codes subfiles from scratch???
Definitely -
I haven't written a subfile program from scratch in almost twenty years,
when I first wrote the template programs that I use.
Also - working in JDE shops has also given me the opportunity to learn and
use the JDE CASE tool to create subfile inquiry and maintenance programs.
Four hours of work in the CASE tool gets me up to 90% of the code I need
for a fairly complex subfile maintenance program, saving me several days of
work compared to hand-coding the program...
