Why? They were not part of the early versions of the language as far
as I can recall. I can understand making this argument about the
cycle or fixed format (although I don't agree with that one) which
have been there forever - - but MODS? No way. If I recall
correctly they effectively exist in Pascal (can't recall the syntax)
and other languages.
Surely the essence of RPG is that it tightly integrates system
functionality into the language and makes it possible to solve
complex business problems easily and reliably. Not fixed vs free, or
even the cycle and certainly not MODS.
