We have a RPG program that uses a record in a file to keep tracking of
the next shipment-tracking#. It returns the next tracking# to the
caller and update the record. Our system crashed this Friday and we are
now seeing duplicate shipment-tracking # in our order entry file. It
seems like the update that happened on the day that system crashed
somehow got lost. I know RPG does blocking when file is opened with
output only. However, this program does not write to this file, it only
does updated.
Is it possible for data being updated by this RPG program to get lost
after system crashed?
