The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.

ISAM has powerful weaknesses too: no dynamic ORDER BY, no dynamic
WHERE and no dynamic JOIN. If you need one of those things [1] then
ISAM won't be helpful.
Isn't that what OPNQRYF is for?
Yes indeed. As long as you don't mind doing a CLOSE/OPEN to access the
dynamic goodies... :-)
And if you're willing to open/close a cursor, why wouldn't you be willing to
open/close a file?
Given the proper problem domain, I would be very happy to use OPNQRYF.
It's in my bag-o-tricks alongside FMTDTA and CPYF INCREL(). Each
problem domain has a different solution set.
Take a phone book application. Who looks for KIRK by typing in SULU and
paging backwards? Go to any major web application and search for SULU
and see if you can click 'Previous' to get to KIRK. The paradigm is
already in place for people to enter a new positioner. Amazon, Ebay,
every search engine I tried...
I think that gradually, the problem domain you were thinking of became
clear. I'm not sure any of us ever stopped to ask the OP what his
problem domain is.
