Mike,
When you say you get a "flat file", do you get something like this?

ISA*00* *00* *01*02358 *12*50745.....
GS*TX*02358*50745*071007*0207*80*X*003010VICS
ST*864*000000484
BMG*05*02
DTM*097*071006
N1*CQ*601 AVE SOUTH*93*990
(etc.)

We only have one trading partner sending us 864 documents and they're only
sending us address changes for their stores. We decided we wanted someone
to review manually rather than automatically update our system.

If you want, I can see if I can help you out...
Carmen

Carmen,The users do not always read these so they want me to create a
subfile for them to review and sign off. I think there is a kind of a key
between the sender and receive id and some other fields and the sequence #.
but I am not positive if this is reliable.

Shannon, we don;t use a package but a 3rd party service who sends us flat
files.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
I think it would be pretty tough to anticipate everything that could come in
an 864 document. We just have ours print on a report and have a human read
it...

HI I have a need to take the EDI notes info document 864 and make sense of
it. Perhaps someone has done this already and can save me some time and
aggravation. I would like to process this via my RPG programs that will for
example remove messages that are silly, such as customers who send a notice
of a new telephone # that is 000-000-0000.
and other such. I cannot see in what way this is a database that I can
make sense of.

Thank you,
Mike
