The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

Speaking of "the redbook", what ever happened to the sequel.... uh... refresh of that title?
Just wondering..

for the program name have a performance overhead. Hence most dynamic calls
employ a constant/literal for the name."
These days the overhead is very small Brian - it only becomes really
significant if the target is changed on every call. The compilers (RPG400 and
RPG IV) only resolve the pointer now when the content of the variable changes.
And for anyone wondering if you can use this variable target approach with
subprocedures the answer is yes - and there is a very simple example in the
RPG Redbook "Who Knew You Could Do That ..."
