I assume, Jeff, that you are speaking of the DSPPGMREF command - this will get
you a good start on what objects are used by your programs, service programs,
SQL packages, and modules. Hmm! Have never tried it on an SQL package - wonder
what it tells me? Not much yet that I can see.

This can be run against all the executables you want - then compare against
your DSPOBJD output.

Phil,
Build a file of programs using the changed file and then exclude all the
programs that have not been used using the dspobjd output file.
You can use SQL to delete those records where the days used is zero.
Be carefull that you do not delete a program that was created that is used
rarely (eom, quarterly, end of year, etc.).

changed with all of the objects that it touches but only insofar as
these objects have been used.

I suppose this is just making the case for not allowing anything with a
0-used days to reside in Production.

You might try running a dspobjd of all the programs in the libraries you
are interested in to an output file and the selecting only those
programs that had a value other than 0 in the number of days used count.

HI I am looking at RPG programs that may have to be modified, using the
Abstract probe tool. But it would be beneficial to know if an Program in
the group was ever used. Even using FNDSTRPDM will not allow this
filter. As I see it, this is a manual process of getting a list of
programs or file that may have to be modified and then running the
command DSPOBJD on each one to see when if ever this object has been
used.



Is there another way to get a list of where-used that would leave out
the ones that were never used?
