This is the reason that, on our system, we never have due dates for
invoices that fall after the 28th of the month - for any month.

It is "wrong" only if you want the end of the month each time, otherwise
it is "correct".

You could write a simple GetEndOfMonth() subprocedure (I think I posted
1 line of code that does this in /free format on the
www.rpgiv.com/forum and in my RPG TNT book).

If you want the end of month for 3 months ago, regardless of the date or
the end of the month from 3 months from now, that's one more step/stmt
than just adding or subtracting %months(3) from an existing date.

And it does calc 2007-02-28 when subtracting 3 months from may 29.

Isn't RPG intuitive enough to figure out that if the current
month ends in 31 and the previous month (whatever that
happens to be) is <> 31 to just go the previous day closest to it?

I certainly would hope so. God forbid I have to program some
ridiculous function to do that when practically every other
language can handle it.
