This is an interesting point. You COULD theoretically determine the
pointer size based on the maximum defined length of the field.
Pointer size? What the heck are you talking about? Are you talking
about the difference between the standard 128-bit pointers, and the
64-bit pointer that C programs can use for teraspace?
