at the most will have a logo that repeats in each page and it is fetched
from cache after the first call.

I disagree with this to some extent. There are lots of reasons to have
graphics. In the end one of the main reasons for doing Web vs. 5250 for
in-house use is because "it needs to look prettier". Images help that a
lot, from graphics for prompting on fields to buttons at the top of columns
to denote the current sort direction. Granted these are not large graphics
and are most likely cached by the browser after initial download.

But, if you are so sure that the web is not the tool for business, we must
tell that to companies like Amazon.
I don't order from Amazon a lot, but I have yet to see many, if any, web
apps that have a similar level of UI complexity (read number of input fields
on a page). One of the few I can think of is the CRM tool we use in-house
and that uses some activeX stuff with a fair amount of callbacks which makes
it fairly slow over the internet (they are an application server provider so
we don't have the app on our LAN/WAN).

Just some thoughts,

A critical business application should not have a dozen graphics, (unless it
is about graphics) at the most will have a logo that repeats in each page
and it is fetched from cache after the first call.

Also, a new application will profit from the newer tecnologies, and has the
potencial to be improved.

But, if you are so sure that the web is not the tool for business, we must
tell that to companies like Amazon.
