I agree with you, in fact at the company I worked at before here, that was 
a standard, You get to see the variable result before the OPNQRYF 
execution.

<I assume &BEGDT and & ENDDT are character  variables with numeric values>

Thanks for your help, Yes, I was not thnking numeric.  and yes, they are 
char, with numeric values.
