Mihael,

That was news to me! I have used Axis on the System i but I rolled my own by deploying the Axis war file. It *looks* like the Axis implementation is found in WAS (I have 6.0 Express installed). Normally Axis is just an installed webapp that runs within an application server like WAS. However, I couldn't find anything that looked like it in my WAS 6.0 installation. However, there is an ear file that appears to have a web services component called sibws.ear and I have found several references to it on IBM's web site such as this:

http://www-03.ibm.com/support/techdocs/atsmastr.nsf/WebIndex/TD102155

I can't say for sure but IBM does have a penchant for pulling multiple apps into a "service bus". sibws may be a service bus application that has one component that is Axis. But I am unable to find any reference to client side API's. I used Java and RPG to consume web services in my apps that run on the System i (I use Scott Klement's HTTPAPI for the SOAP client in RPG).

I am doing an SOA presentation at Common again this year and Web Services are central to the presentation. I'll look into this further and see if I can find anything and post it here.

hello,

i just read in the V5R4 announcement the following:

Web Services

i5/OS operating system includes a Web Services client for use by all ILE
programs: RPG, COBOL, C, and C++. The Web Services client consists of
APIs based on the Apache Software Foundation's Axis C++ 1.2, an
implementation of Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP). The Web Services
client can be used by ILE programs, such as RPG programs, that need to
access Web Services. Web Services client for Java programs is included
with WebSphere application server products such as WebSphere Application
Server - Express.
can anybody tell me where i find this client/program? anywhere some
documentation for the api? or perhaps an example =)

thanx in advance
