Doug,

Probably a separate question is why the guy's doing this? Is he a jerk? Is
he looking for glory? is he trying to show he's 'better' than you (or anyone
else)?

Frankly, if someone I worked with tried the "I bet you can't figure out how
I can do this!" line, I'd ignore him. Or hit him.
