That changes the record format name. Used mostly for "fixing" the
problem where the record format name is the same as the file. For
example SQL built "files"/tables by default create the record format to
be the same name as the file name.

Re name it. I have never fully understood why this works, but it always
has for me.
FRKESPUP1 IF E K DISK RENAME(RKESPUP1 : RKESPD)

Does it say record type or record format? When you create a PF you get
to define the name of the file and the name of the record format and
they are usually different since RPG does not like it when they match.
When qry creates a file the file name and record format at the same. The
RPG will not like reading a file that has a different record format name
that what it found at compile time. You might have the query output a
file that is named PRHSTD and then rename the file to match the F spec
file name

Subject: Reading a file created by Query

Good Afternoon,
I am creating a file from query that is read into an RPGIV
program.

In the RPG program I am using an Externally defined file as the file
definition and it has an EXTMBR value.

The query creates the file as a subset of the master file.

When the read occurs I am getting an
"Undefined record type is found in file PRHSTD"

I am stumped anybody have any ideas.

Thanks in advance
