We as a department can suggest all we want (and I do get it lol).. but we
will be given a selection that they want us to see to pick from whether we
like them or not. And I can tell so far that it will be a windows based
system. I'm soooooo excited.... (NOT). So now we are going to be going
down the exact opposite path of those system i ads, you know, the need a
bunch of Ned's to run the system ones. Instead of merging everything into
one system, now we'll have a dozen or more servers to replace the one
iSeries. Sigh.

That is our policy as well. It follows the addage "If it ain't broke,
don't fix it, but if you are screwing with it, convert it... " :)

Too bad we just got news the the iSeries is being replaced here in favor
of a new system... of which what it is no one knows...

That is a wonderful policy, and one I think most people need to consider
embracing.

Our policy on switching from RPG III to RPG IV is like so. We do not
have a project to convert each RPG III program over to RPG IV. However,
if we have to modify a program that is written in RPG III we are to
convert it over to RPG IV first then make our modifications.
