That's just ugly though. You'd think there was some published method that doesn't rely on creating spool files. It just seems so 80's to me...
Not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with the solution if that's the only way. Just commenting on the lack of API access to the needed information, if that's truly the only method :-)

If nothing else, you could DSPDDMF to print then query the print for the
system name...
