Many years ago I needed a random number generator for a client that wanted random numbers for their Item Number. We tried REXX, but it was to slow. So, I took the code from the old Star Trek game on a S/34,used to initially position the Klingons, modified it a bit for their purposes and put it into Production. Games work great, they have some neat code in there. Nick Radich Sr. Programmer/Analyst EPC Molding, Inc. But, since I have one, it's no problem to post it for you to try... if
you can use it, great... if not, no harm done. Doesn't meet the criteria Scott - you used system calls <grin> Which kinda makes our point about the requirement being unrealistic.
From a subsequent post I see that VARPG is involved - in which case the
use of C functions such as rand() is just fine. I think if the original poster checks the examples shipped with VARPG there are a couple of games in there and I suspect at least one has a random number routine in it. Jon Paris Partner400 www.Partner400.com
